Questions and answers

Why do you fall for this particular sofa?

Who can say. The comfort of your ‘derrière’? The continuous line of the piping? The angular design that deviates from the organic trend? The harmonious balance achieved through its symmetrical proportions? The question may be simple, but the answers are complex. A market segment has many target groups, so demands a diverse portfolio of models. Haveco is an expert in this.

The models are difficult to categorise under a single heading. So here’s a rundown of the trade fair news.

The Bravo model is the Rolls Royce of the range. A deep sofa with a double row of cushions at the back ─ and first-class comfort: a down-filled cover, Talalay latex, and HR SG-50 foam. You might whimsically describe Bravo as ‘a sensation for the derrière’. The whole of the Netherlands will recognise this slightly risqué slogan, break out in a smile and immediately grasp the meaning. So there’s nothing left to add, right? Actually there is: the diversity of options for the modules, fabrics and so forth.

The Parker model is all about harmony. The geometric design is based on perfect symmetry: you see one standard size everywhere. In the height of the base and, in parallel, the alignment of the seat cushions. In the width of the armrest and backrest, and the thickness of the back cushions. In general, people enjoy symmetry: the epitome of balance and harmony. Symmetry corresponds to the eternal ideal of beauty: in faces, architecture, and other forms. It enhances visual appeal. That’s exactly what Parker wants to achieve.

The Nova sofa is upholstered in an almost seamless way – at least, insofar as this is possible. The one necessary seem is accentuated by piping. This single seam runs through continuously. It marks the dividing line between horizontal and vertical planes.

The Liam armchair is a distinct departure from the organic trend. The wooden frame plumps for geometric design, with the trapezoid as the starting point. So no perpendicular lines, but rather blunt and sharp corners. The back section in particular deserves attention: the kink in the wooden frame ensures a perfect positioning of the cushions.

So that’s the virtual lowdown on the Haveco news.
