TEN YEARS ON

The last time was in 2016.

This year, Bree’s New World is back in Brussels, primarily for its Belgian associates — as well as for its Dutch partners and international contacts. The intention is to expand and deepen the customer network. The contract market is a new focus area. The one thing that has not changed in this ten-year period is that 90% of the collection is made in Holland. Who can still say that?

What’s more, the company continues to collaborate with well-known designers. ‘We move with the trends, and give our own twist to them.’ The latest asset in the collection was the Trapea table series, a nod to the trapezium et al. The sides run in parallel but differ in length. The effect is an asymmetric tabletop that balances between organic and geometric. The shape is most powerfully apparent in the dining table.

So what is the very latest, most important news? After years the moment has come. In Brussels — especially for the Belgian market — an extendable table is being launched. Bree’s New World will be truly putting this in the spotlight! So be patient. There will be more to it than the table alone!

One key factor is that the company wants to have a stronger presence in the contract market. The new homeliness has filtered through into the business and hospitality worlds. Business interiors can be warmer, cosier, and more convivial. This development has been underway for some time, and is still moving full speed ahead. ‘Out of nowhere, project designers are knocking on our door for the interiors of commercial spaces, hotel accommodation and recreation parks. This is an area that we want to take seriously. Our collections are certainly suitable. The project designers know how to find us, otherwise we seek them out. Or we come into contact by chance.”

The existence of chance is part of the story. Thanks to a chance meeting or turn of events, export to countries including Poland and Denmark began. The French language is no longer a barrier for a Dutch company. Bree’s is now exhibiting at a Belgian fair. ‘The great thing is that you come into contact with new connections, tap into new export markets.’

So who knows what Brussels will bring? ‘We are looking forward to it with great enthusiasm, are really up for it. Everyone is welcome.’
