LAMP FOLLOWS FURNITURE

Have you noticed a new trend in furniture?

You will see it appear in lamps a short time later. The use of natural linen, raffia and marble? The inclusion of artisanal wickerwork? And above all, the blend of retro and botanically inspired designs? There is no hesitation: Ledvance uses it in Osram’s decorative lighting.

Vintage and retro have grown from a trend into an interior style and lifestyle. So what does this look like? The possibilities are endless.

The Corolle series is named after the French word meaning whorl of petals. The white glass globe lamp — such a design classic! — is wrapped in colourful metal ‘petals’. And what colours: the seventies orange and green, the timeless red and black. The pendant, standing and reading lamps already existed, and the table lamp is on its way. For this, the pendant whorl of petals is inverted into a chalice.

The Wrap pendant lamp resembles a telescopic construction: out of a large central shade, two smaller ones appear, above and below. The large cylindrical shade is ‘wrapped’ in raffia; the two smaller ones in linen. The three-part structure with two natural fabrics gives a separate lighting effect: a diffuse and soft shine through the linen, and a rather stronger and clearer light through the raffia.

There’s a move from bi-materials to bi-colours for the flower series: the rattan fixtures Lotus, Dandelion and Daisy. The Dandelion floor lamp is inspired by dandelions in a field. OK, limited here to two pieces. The semi-transparent, circular screens allude to the cylindrical dandelion clock, and the slim stands to the stems. The Daisy series mimics the halo of petals in a daisy. The wide, oval leaves of the Lotus hang down, from the wall or the ceiling.

Just like rattan, marble is again very much on trend: first for (table)tops, followed by table lamps. Ledvance is launching a universal, marble base: suitable for multiple light sources.

The latter is an unwritten rule at Osram: decorative fixtures mean interchangeable light sources.
