NATURALLY SELF-SUFFICIENT
A valuable addition to Brussels by Night:
Harrison Spinks with its luxury bedding from Yorkshire (UK). A traditional family firm and product range in its purest form. Beds and mattresses fashioned from natural materials – crafted in-house straight from the source. On the farm the sheep graze in the meadows, and the flax and hemp for the mattresses grows. Harrison Spinks is one of a kind. ‘Brussels is the perfect platform for their breakthrough on the European mainland.’
Bedding made of100% natural materials is a niche in the high-end segment. And Harrison Spinks plays a prominent role in this niche.
The family business founded in 1840 is now in the hands of the fifth generation. These days, that is vanishingly rare. The firm’s core offering is handmade sleeping comfort, traditionally crafted from natural, recyclable materials. Every generation raises the bar a notch higher. The business is now 90% self-sufficient, incorporating a micro pocket spring workshop, and an on-site textile weaving mill. It even supplies its own natural raw materials for the filling. The bedding firm is the only one of its kind in the UK to run its own farm. Sheep, alpacas, angora goats and horses graze in its meadows. This idyllic tableau is the ultimate calling card for the natural sleeping experience. The farm’s primary purpose is to cultivate flax and hemp for the textile production and the filling materials. Of course, this is the optimal way to control quality. The mattress materials are naturally flame retardant – and you can be 100% sure they are chemical free! (In the UK the fire safety norm is exceptionally high.) The 3-D pouches for the micro pocket springs are made from bamboo. Other natural raw materials are organic silk, recycled cashmere, Egyptian cotton and horse hair. Glue and foams are strictly taboo. The firm purchases all materials it does not have in-house from local suppliers where possible: so British wool, and British steel.
The collection spans three categories: the reversible mattresses, the non-reversable pillow topper, and the rotatable (!) varieties. Talking of unbeatable quality: the loose, Scandinavian-style toppers have a core with micro pocket springs (in bamboo) – with no fewer than three layers in the top version. The craftsmanship shines through in the all-round authentic tufting, including the mattress borders.
In a nutshell: the British Luxury Collection offers first-class to royal class comfort and style.
