Your Body First

Energy is a hot item.

In 2024 we turn down the thermostat a degree (or more) and take part in ‘warm jumper day’. Heating your whole home to the max is a no go. With an eye to the future, we take a step back in time. The first thing is to ensure that your body is at the right temperature: that makes a big difference.

Van Buren Bolsward already knew all this in 1861. In the past you had hard winters with ice on your windows, while today we heat our entire homes. One thing is still the same: if the extremities of your body are at the right temperature, you are automatically warm. So it’s slippers on indoors; and a warm hat, gloves or mittens on outdoors. Recently, Van Buren Bolsward, has been placing an additional focus on this traditional sheepskin clothing ‘yn Fryslân makke’ (made in Friesland).

Old-school slippers have been updated: robust, ankle-height models in soft suede with a lining and details in fluffy fur. Take a closer look at the blanket stitch, wooden button and thick rubber sole. The indoor slippers have even been upgraded to outdoor-proof boots – for adults.

This model range has been extended to a cute collection of children’s slippers: for babies up to teenagers. The colour scheme is taupe, white, camel and even pink. The same applies to the baby and child’s hat collection: modelled on a flying helmet. Paired with the mittens, it completes the winter outfit. Interior accessories are also part of the picture: yoga mats, and new colours for the Alpaca throws and fur rugs. The white garland shines out for its sustainability. It’s fashioned from residual waste, from pieces of leftover fur. And it can be deployed for many purposes for many years. It can be styled up with Christmas decorations, spring flowers, autumn leaves and much more.

But one thing has not changed. Van Buren Bolsward is the Netherlands’ only remaining sheepskin tanner that makes all its products in-house using traditional craftsmanship.
