Just like indoors, outdoors is being furnished. It is time to respond to this development. The Brussels Furniture Fair — powered by Fedustria — gives a platform to Belgian outdoor brands. This is a sneak preview of the future.
Living is increasingly taking place outside the home. The boundary between indoors and outdoors is shifting, even blurring. Terraces are being covered, verandas added, and garden rooms built. The Living room is moving towards the outdoors, towards a garden room – whatever form this might take. Seasonal feels like an outdated concept: outdoor living ideally continues all year round. Taking advantage of that fresh air feeling for a moment, whenever practical.
The exterior is being experienced and furnished just like the interior. Sitting, dining, lounging and lying down – with an enhanced sensorial quality. A view of a natural decor. Cosy heating with a well-stoked fire. Enjoying the changing of the seasons.
The Furniture Fair’s goal is to be representative of the market. Brussels is a generalist trade fair with specialist fields under one roof. Outdoor living is most certainly a part of that.
But the truth is that a new initiative takes time to grow and thrive. All beginnings are difficult. A good beginning makes an impression. And a first impression is something you can only make once. For the Brussels Furniture Fair, the introduction of ‘exterior’ is self-evident: via a platform of outdoor brands with their roots in Belgium. ‘To be honest, it’s no exaggeration to say that our high-end outdoor furniture has an outstanding international reputation. It deserves a podium position.’ The initiative has been developed in collaboration with Fedustria. These outdoor brands comprise the sneak preview: on show in Hall 3.
In the future, Brussels wants to establish itself as a trade fair for indoor & outdoor furniture. That is inherent to the organisers’ mission: to present an offering that is in line with the market.
