BEES AND BEDDING

Brinkhaus is an established part of ‘Brussels by Night’ and of the international bedding world.

The brand has achieved cult status among sleep specialists. The new collection of pillows and duvets has been enhanced with the use of more luxurious materials, hybrid solutions and a patented duvet design. The life of bees was a key source of inspiration.

Let’s begin with the bees. When you think of duvets, cassette stitching immediately comes to mind. The rectangular division of the compartments is the established method, isn’t it? So why is that? Brinkhaus has questioned this tradition. There is much to learn from nature. Bees construct hexagonal honeycombs. Why? Because the hexagon is the most efficient structure: sturdy, stable, lightweight, and so on. You can see the honeycomb construction in architecture, aircraft design, and furniture panels, among other things. And from now on you’ll be seeing it at Brinkhaus too: in the Crown duvet. This honeycomb design is patented in Germany. So what are the advantages? A hexagon has wider, obtuse angles, so the down remains evenly distributed within the compartment. The perimeter consists of short seams, meaning less heat can escape. The hexagonal plane is more supple, adapting better to your body. All in all, the Crown is a lightweight and thermally stable duvet that gently ‘embraces’ your body. The fine batiste ticking is, of course, pure luxury.

Ergonomic zones
A second innovation is the Dream Zone pillow: suitable for back, stomach, and side sleepers, as well as all other types of sleepers. In other words: a universal pillow thanks to its division into five segments. Each zone is 3D ergonomically contoured and proportioned. What a difference by comparison to a linear, block-shaped division! The cover is fashioned from 100% cotton.

Why no down?
A synergy of opposites plays a role in the Celeste collection. The duvet and pillows are synthetic, yet feel like pure down. This ‘down touch’ effect provides a surprising sensation. You experience a silky-soft, cosy, feather-light, exclusive comfort. Celeste falls into the ‘hybrid’ category: a mix of ease of use and pure luxury.
Speaking of premium: the Lima collection is fully padded with alpaca wool. This applies to both the duvet and the matching pillow. Alpaca wool is exceptionally skin-friendly: soft, itch-free, and hypoallergenic. The semi-organic stitching pattern hints at its superior qualities. That is precisely what Brinkhaus stands for: ‘a perfect sleeping culture’.
