ECLECTIC DESIGN

A new designer means a refreshing take on the modelling.

The compilation of classic and modern stylistic elements results in eclectic design. Glam-More is all about the revival of timeless style, classic elegance — with a modern twist and haute couture details. The bergère and the Chesterfield put in an appearance.

In fashion, iconic classics such as the trench coat, the blazer and the Chanel jacket are making a comeback (even among teenagers). Designer Filippo Di Lecce is translating the retro-classic style in fashion into furniture. He is known for his haute-couture touches, his appreciation of cultural heritage, and his minimalist design language, among others. These characteristics are carried through into his first models for Glam-More. The stylistic elements go further back in time than usual: from the modern design classics of the 20th century to the age-old furniture classics.

The Coconut modular sofa is a re-design of the Bergére armchair with the characteristic ears. You sit restfully protected, secluded, delightfully cosy. That experience has been preserved. The cocooned feeling has become Coconut— with a semi-ellipsoid separation between the back-with-ears and the armrest. The contours are minutely delineated with piping: between the exterior and the interior, as it were between the hard shell and the soft contents.

The Bon Ton model is a free interpretation of the Chesterfield. The classic rolled shape of the arms is transformed into a slimmed down, sloping oval. Inside, the sunken droplet shape is defined by (contrasting) piping that transitions into a tubular steel leg. Bon Tonne is more liberated from the floor; the typical tufting is absent; and the backrest and arms do not align at the same height. So the focus naturally shifts to the sophisticated arm and the comfortable back cushions.

The modular model Eclipse speaks for itself: cyclical volumes, a visual space of light and shade. The elements are open to straight and semi-circular settings. They allude to the semi-circular design periods in the 20th century. A typical signature detail is the continuous decorative seam that frames all the modules into a single whole.

You can also make out the hand of Filippo Di Lecce in the Amelie sofa bed. The bottom line: Glam-More will be presenting an idiosyncratic overview of its collection in Brussels.
