YOUTH BEDROOMS? ALL ROOMS!
Long time, no see.
Back in Brussels after more than five years: Groupe Gautier. Much has changed in the intervening years. Outsourcing, no way. In fact, the first ‘Batch One’ is operational, for 1:1 custom work. The focus has shifted: from solely youth bedrooms to all facets of living room furniture. Kitchens naturally followed suit. What have you missed from Gautier?
Every collection is distinguished by that French touch – the elegant lines, an unusual asymmetric detail.
This French flair is immediately apparent in the Twist table. A sleek metal column leg is gently twisted into a wave-like shape, a visually dynamic pattern. With a little imagination, you see the hand at work, carefully turning. The column leg stands tall in flowing folds, like a tablecloth falling over the edge. The tabletop can be synchronously extended from 118 to 166 cm.
The Audace living room range stands out with its striking asymmetry, just that tiny bit differently proportioned. The division of the fronts (sliding doors) seems random, with no fixed order. The support comprises one perfect diagonal and two interrupted parallel lines. The latest look for Audace features ‘gris cendrée’ oak and a travertine finish.
Gami is also active in the kitchen these days. Alpaga consists of modular base and wall cabinets – including a one-piece worktop. For every kitchen block configuration there is a standard worktop length (120-240 cm long). There is always a worktop that fits perfectly – with no need for cutting. You simply need to cut out the openings for the hob and sink; fortunately, the cutouts are marked on the underside of the worktop. In France, the kitchen units are already a hit.
A familiar sight at Gautier is the youth bedroom. Nael is a spin-off of the successful Duplex range. The mezzanine layout is the perfect solution for young adults. The space beneath the bed has been raised to create a fully-fledged workspace — with no need to bend over (high sleeper).
What has not changed at all? Gautier remains committed to insourcing: production managed in-house, in the Vendée. What has changed? Since 2021 the first ‘Batch One’ production line has been operational. This delivers bespoke 1:1 pieces – thanks to smart technology (IoT). Gautier is ready for the industrial era 4.0.
