HANDS ON FURNITURE
It’s finally here: Kristensen & Kristensen has arrived in Brussels!
The strength of the collection? Its exceptional flexibility: 90% of the furniture is custom-made. Made possible by the artisanal craftsmanship and autonomous working methods. Machines are tools. Traditional craftsmanship is in the DNA of this family business. Furniture making is human work.
The Kristensen family’s history with furniture goes back to 1991. Importing international collections grew into a passion for furniture craftsmanship. In 2003, a dream became reality: their own factory in Lithuania. However, the word “factory” can give a false impression. The alternative “workshop” also falls short. What gives a better idea of its nature and scale? The 8,000 m² company premises and the 300 skilled wood and metalworkers. The company prefers to keep everything in-house—literally and figuratively. The process, from drying the raw wood to the finished piece of furniture, takes place in-house. Human hands select and process the wood, finishing the furniture. Metal is still forged with anvils and hammers, sometimes incorporated as decorative accents. In short: Kristensen & Kristensen operates as a self-sufficient family business.
90%
The market positioning is in the mid-high segment – with flexibility as its USP. The range consists of solid oak and ash furniture. Kristensen & Kristensen attaches great importance to exclusivity, originality, and the uniqueness of its furniture. A striking example: the Amilia table collection with straight, round, and oval top shapes (extendable). Just look at the design of the leg construction: so aesthetic and practical! Standard options include 11 wood colours and 5 surface finishes (from smooth to metal-filled knots), 4 edge finishes, and 2 leg positions (for straight tables). And even then, you can opt for custom sizes! The result? “90% of our turnover is custom-made.” This, of course, also falls under the heading of “exclusive.” Unique for the individual, distinctive for the market.
The Options cabinet collection with its authentic dovetail joints is the perfect example of authentic craftsmanship. This also applies to a retro style like the Velvet series: just look at the handmade handle, the radius of the ribbed profile and the rounded side doors.
That’s it for an impression of Kristensen & Kristensen. There will be many more new things to discover in Brussels…
