The comfort of Calia Italia

When Liborio Vincenzo Calia started his own studio in Matera,

in the heel of Italy, more than sixty years ago, he knew that he didn’t simply want to create furniture. His intention was clear: to make people feel good by designing pieces that would improve their lives. All these years (and generations) later, Calia Italia is a company that champions not only aesthetics, but also social responsibility and authenticity. Liborio is no longer with us, but the Calia family carries on his work with an eye to the future, without losing sight of what has been built up over many decades

Scialla, the very latest model in the collection, is a good example of this. Broad, deep and enveloping seats encourage boundless relaxation. Ultra-soft upholstery creates an additional sense of comfort. The model comes with soft back cushions. Its entire filling is fashioned from eco-friendly polyurethane, covered with a padded layer of MICROFLOCK®, a recycled PET-fibre with OEKO-TEX® certification. The seat cushions feature an innovative high-tech plastic spring system, which guarantees optimal support and long-lasting durability. Optional lumbar cushions offer even greater comfort. The design comprises linear and corner modules, footstools, and chaises longues, as well as special versions with unconventional geometries, characterised by open lines and generous volumes that create space for social interaction.
